VS 55H8 Overview

VS 55H8 is a green 1206 surface-mount LED supplied by Victory Electronics (威力光電), Taiwan. It sits in the 0.5 mm height version of the 1206 family, so it clears the low z-height limits of slim panels and card-format boards while keeping the forgiving hand-solderable footprint that makes 1206 popular for indicators.

Optically it is a 573 nm standard green emitter in a clear lens, rated 28 mcd minimum and 55 mcd typical at 20 mA, with a 140° viewing angle — the widest in Victory's 1206 0.5 mm line. That wide beam matters when the LED sits behind a light pipe or a diffuser and needs to look even from off-axis, rather than throwing a bright spot straight up.

Design Notes for VS 55H8

• A 140° viewing angle is wide for a 1206 part. If you need a tighter, brighter beam, a narrower-angle package is the better starting point.
• The minimum-to-typical intensity spread is 28–55 mcd. On products where several indicators sit side by side, ask about binning so adjacent LEDs match.
• From a 3.3 V rail, about 65 Ω in series gives roughly 20 mA at the typical V_F; at the 2.4 V maximum the same resistor gives about 14 mA, so allow for that spread if brightness matters. From a 5.0 V rail, about 150 Ω in series gives roughly 20 mA at the typical V_F; at the 2.4 V maximum the same resistor gives about 17 mA, so allow for that spread if brightness matters.
• Maximum continuous forward current is 25 mA; peak forward current is 100 mA under 1/10 duty at 1 kHz.
