VS 26A8 Overview

VS 26A8 is a yellow 0603 surface-mount LED from Victory Electronics (威力光電), Taiwan, in the 0.8 mm height version of the package. 0603 is the usual compromise for indicators: noticeably smaller than 1206, but still large enough to place and rework without specialist equipment.

It emits at 589 nm through a clear lens, 53 mcd minimum and 80 mcd typical at 20 mA, with a 100° viewing angle and a 2.0 V forward voltage. The 53 mcd minimum is relatively high for this size, which means less variation between units — useful when several indicators sit in a row and any mismatch is obvious.

Design Notes for VS 26A8

• The 100° viewing angle is tighter than the 0402 and 1206 families in this catalogue. Straight-on it looks brighter; from a steep angle it falls off sooner.
• The minimum-to-typical spread is 53–80 mcd, narrower than most parts of this class. Ask about binning if you need adjacent indicators to match closely.
• From a 3.3 V rail, about 65 Ω in series gives roughly 20 mA at the typical V_F; at the 2.4 V maximum the same resistor gives about 14 mA, so allow for that spread if brightness matters. From a 5.0 V rail, about 150 Ω in series gives roughly 20 mA at the typical V_F; at the 2.4 V maximum the same resistor gives about 17 mA, so allow for that spread if brightness matters.
• Maximum continuous forward current is 25 mA; peak forward current is 100 mA under 1/10 duty at 1 kHz.
