VS 19D8 Overview
VS 19D8 is an orange 0402 surface-mount LED from Victory Electronics (威力光電), Taiwan, measuring 1.0 × 0.5 × 0.45 mm on the outline drawing. It emits at 615 nm through a clear lens, 22 mcd minimum and 40 mcd typical at 20 mA, with a 120° viewing angle and a 2.0 V typical forward voltage.
615 nm sits between the 605 nm yellow-orange and the 624 nm red parts in the same family. In practice that narrow gap is a deliberate choice, not a rounding difference: on a panel with several indicators, using 615 nm for one state and 624 nm for another gives two signals that are distinguishable side by side without jumping to a completely different color.
Design Notes for VS 19D8
- Orange at 615 nm is easy to confuse with red at 624 nm when the two are not adjacent. If the states must be unambiguous in isolation, pair orange with yellow or green rather than with red.
- Same footprint and same 2.0 V forward voltage as the red, yellow and yellow-orange parts in this family, so a color change late in the design costs nothing on the board.
- From a 3.3 V rail, about 65 Ω in series gives roughly 20 mA at the typical VF; at the 2.4 V maximum the same resistor gives about 14 mA, so allow for that spread if brightness matters. From a 5.0 V rail, about 150 Ω in series gives roughly 20 mA at the typical VF; at the 2.4 V maximum the same resistor gives about 17 mA, so allow for that spread if brightness matters.
- Maximum continuous forward current is 25 mA; peak forward current is 100 mA under 1/10 duty at 1 kHz.

All parts below share the same package and footprint as VS 19D8, so changing color late in a design normally needs no PCB revision.
